I was in China when Ford rolled out this pristine 1976 Cobra II on red carpet to celebrate the Mustang's 50th anniversary in Beijing. I thought it was kinda funny to see the Chinese fawn and fuss over what most of us the "western world" would consider a bit of a turd. Not that I don't kinda love the Mustang II but it rarely gets red carpet treatment here!

I like the styling of the M II. Would buy one now.

It's kinda cool actually. I've always loved the brushed aluminum gauge cluster some came with. And the horsepower problem can be easily fixed today.

You know what?
I crap on the II any chance I get.
Oddly...
If I found a decent example at a reasonable price I'd snag it in a heartbeat.

Considering that Buick is one of the best selling brands in China, the bar is apparently very low for what is considered a "good" car. A Cobra II with a bone stock 302 could still probably run circles around most locally produced cars.
And the Cobra II never really looked all that bad. It was a turd, but it was a highly polished turd.

I know what you mean man. The brown on brown and he hideous 5mph bumpers are endearing. Furthermore, the woefully detuned and basically castrated engines have much hidden potential with a little work. I tend to like malaise mopars the most. Like the '75-'76 Coronet.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a Pontiac Can Am or Chevy Laguna S-3..
But hey, to each his own.
